385 hp Honda S2000

We recently completed installation of a Vortech supercharger on a new Honda S2000 for a local owner. As you can see in the photo above, the installation performed by chief mechanic Bud Link is flawless. Other modifications include:

• Vortech Supercharger with Water to Air Powercooler

• Electromotive TEC3 ECU with Kennedy's custom programming

• Custom Cams by Kennedy's

• Forged race piston set

• Competition valve job

After Dynotuning by Bob Kennedy the car made 327rwhp. The baseline "as received" runs showed a maximum of 194rwhp. The gain of 133hp represents a 69% increase, that's the "Kennedy Advantage"! Using a conservative 15% correction factor this represents 385 engine horsepower. The specific output of over 3.2hp/ci (192hp/l) is astonishing in such a mild mannered street car. A 5L V-8 would have 960hp with the same specific output. 

The car drives like it was stock until you get on it, then it has astonishing acceleration. Fuel economy and emissions are preserved. When the VTEC kicks in, it's like an F16 catapult launch. The performance is equal to all but the most exotic supercars but the car is much more agile and has that great S2000 look and feel along with unsurpassed Honda quality. Notice on the dyno graph how the hp and torque advantage is carried over the entire rpm band. Mid range torque, about the only weak spot of the stock S2000, is increased by over 40%. Peak torque is also up over 40% at the rear wheels.
